Visit from author Katheryn White 15.9.14

As part of the library opening, we were visited today by Katheryn White, a children's book author.  Katheryn told us about where she got her influences for stories from.  Also, we listened to the first chapter of: Pitch Pond Curse. After that, we coloured the 'water spirit' from the book, the best of which will be displayed in school.

If you have a question for Katheryn you can ask via her website:

Making the dragon

Viking 'long boats' often had a carved dragon head at the bow (front) of the boat. The dragon head was simply to frighten away sea monsters and spirits.

As part of our class display for our topic work we have made a dragon head using cardboard boxes and tubes cover with 'ModRoc' (quick drying bandages).  We then painted the figure to make it look even more dragon-like:

Welcome to year 6!

Welcome back to a new school year.  We are very excited about all the knowledge to be discovered this year!  Our first topic is 'The Vicious Vikings'.  In their topic time the children will be finding out what the United Kingdom was like during the Anglo Saxon and Viking era.  See our class page where a full overview of subjects show what we will be learning this term.  Check the blog regularly as this is where we will be sharing some of the highlights of our classwork to be viewed by parents, pupils and people from the wider school community.

For now here are year 6!
